Welcome to our page of thankfulness for what God is doing in the lives of our students! These stories are what compel us to do what we do each day. The fruit that God has brought in the lives of these students is of eternal consequence! Enjoy!
Firm Foundations has been a tremendous blessing to our family and I would like to share our experience. We have two children in our family. Our eldest excels and does great in a traditional, public-school setting. Our youngest always seemed to struggle academically, behaviorally and socially in traditional school. In February of 2022, we were heartbroken with the outcomes we were receiving from the school but most importantly, our 9 year old was defeated, sad and had little self-esteem. As a family, we knew we had to do something different for him. With only our faith in hand, we disenrolled him and "unschooled". We had no idea what the future held, no idea what our options were nor what the next step should be but we knew in our hearts that our son was worth the risk of stepping into the unknown and that the current situation had to change. Within a month of disenrolling him, I was connected to Clare and her vision of Firm Foundations and literally, the rest is history. Our son's academic trajectory and love of learning has completely shifted since attending Firm Foundations. While we still have some "off" days, he has more confidence, is happier and we are seeing our child thrive in the Firm Foundations environment. Everything from the teaching staff and administration to the structure and curriculum has helped to change our child's perspective on learning. We know that God has a plan for each of us and we are so blessed and thankful for all the teachers and administration at Firm Foundations.
When I found out Karston wasn’t learning to read and write, or do math, I was worried. When I realized that the public schools wanted to put him in a special room and just keep passing him “up the grades”, I was scared. When I researched my options and realized that there was nowhere private for him to go in all of Yamhill county, that’s when I cried.
I was so thankful when I found FFA NW, our wonderful school. Karston has had such an amazing year! He’s learning to do math, read and write now. He actually likes going to school now and doesn’t cry everyday. He used to tell me that he was dumb. Now he tells me about what he’s learning and how smart he is. This school is such a blessing for our family.
Firm Foundations Academy NW (FFA-NW) is an answered prayer! We are a family of four with two daughters who have vastly different learning styles. We were struggling to find a private Christian school that was the “right fit” for our young family. Our oldest daughter (10) battles with dyslexia and classroom anxiety, and with our youngest daughter (8), learning seems to come more naturally but still has to work hard in her studies. Since we have been at FFA-NW my husband and I have watched our children’s love for God grow deeper and their joy for learning come alive. They wake up and are excited about going to school! This alone fills my joy jar. We are so grateful to be blessed with amazing teachers, great administrators, educational therapists and a passionate school board. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all that you do for our kiddos.
